Edward’s East Strategies Partner Anastasia Tsvetkova presented the firm’s expertise at bilateral meetings and during participation in the business program of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
On the sidelines of COP-28, negotiations were held with Kazakh statesmen in the field of ecology and natural resources, representatives of the Kazakh-German University, the leadership of the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), as well as with members of the delegation from Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan. Agreements have been reached on such areas of cooperation as the organization by Edward’s East Strategies of a refresher course in the ESG field on the basis of higher educational institutions in Kazakhstan, preventive monitoring of climate regulation in the EAEU space in the interests of business, the implementation of applied projects for the transition to a low-carbon economy under the auspices of international donors with the involvement of Edward’s East Strategies as an operator.
Sharing the importance of the issues of water conservation and water security for Kazakhstan, the partner of the firm also participated in the launch of the work of the organizing committee of the One Water Summit, which was launched by Barbara Pompili, Special Envoy of the President of France for the One Water Summit, and Zulfiya Suleimenova, Adviser to the President – Special Representative of the President of the Republic Kazakhstan on International Environmental cooperation. On the part of Edward’s East Strategies and the Lake Baikal Foundation, Anastasia Tsvetkova expressed her willingness to contribute to the development of the event program, presenting her seven-year experience in leading environmental projects in the field of water resources protection at the national and international levels. The One Water Summit will be held in September 2024 in New York. It was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in the early days of COP28.
The annual UN Climate Conference was held in Dubai, the largest city in the United Arab Emirates, from November 30 to December 13, 2023. The participants in the negotiations at COP28 agreed on commitments to triple the capacity of renewable energy sources, double energy efficiency by 2030, progress in adaptation, increase financing for climate projects and the introduction of a Loss and Damage Fund.
