Edward’s East Strategies has prepared monitoring papers of the most notable regulatory initiatives and personnel changes in republics of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan within the period June – July 15, 2023.

Over the past period, the Republic of Kazakhstan has approved a package of regulatory legal acts, regulating the functioning of online platforms and blogs, as well as the placement and distribution of online advertising. All the documents set new requirements for businesses, including bloggers.

In addition to that, the Mazhilis adopted the specific law on conducting an experiment in the realm of foreign electronic trade in goods, and the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Regulation and Development of Financial Market proposed to alleviate the requirements for financial organizations.

In turn, the Republic of Uzbekistan held elections for the President of the country, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev was successfully re-elected for another seven-year term.

As far as the business regulation domain is concerned, decisions were made to write off certain types of debts, fines, penalties, as well as to introduce new tax breaks. What is more, the law «On Competition» was signed and customs duties on the import of cars were reduced.
