Overview of regulatory initiatives and personnel changes in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 6

Edward’s East Strategies has prepared monitoring papers of the most notable regulatory initiatives and personnel changes in republics of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan within the period October 15 – November 15, 2023.

In Kazakhstan, changes in the field of labeling were approved during the period under review. So, from January 1, 2024, the list of labeled goods is expanding. At the same time, it was proposed to extend the period of mandatory marking of shoes until January 1, 2024 (previously it was April 1, 2023).

Also, the first Deputy Prime Minister of the country Roman Sklyar said that the authorities plan to increase fines for inefficient use of energy resources by enterprises.

In turn, in Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Economy and Finance presented the main directions of tax and customs policy for 2024-2026. It is planned to significantly increase fees for alcohol and tobacco products, as well as introduce excise taxes on some drinks with sugar content.

In addition, measures were taken to support the pharmaceutical business, as well as the Law “On Plant Protection”.
